The Olde Schoolhouse Quilters of Westcliffe (OSQ) is a non-profit organized under Valley Park, Rec, & Youth Center, Inc. and has been active in Custer County for 15 years as a guild of enthusiastic quilters. The purposes of the OSQ are to provide (1) educational quilting programs which emphasize technique excellence, (2) to preserve the heritage of quilting, and (3) to perform service to the community through volunteer quilt-related projects.
On the first Tuesday of each month Comfort Quilts, an OSQ service project, quilters sew child-sized quilts which are distributed to the Linus Project, the Lighthouse Pregnancy Center, the school nurse, and other agencies which provide services for children in compromised situations. Membership in OSQ is not required to sew with Comfort Quilts or to donate 100% cotton fabric and quilt supplies to this cause. For further information regarding Comfort Quilts, contact Donna Huebner at 783-9673, [email protected].
On the second Tuesday of the month beginning at 9 o'clock, quilt related activities such as workshops or guest speakers are provided followed by an afternoon business meeting which begins at 1 P.M. Workshops and meetings are held at Valley Bible Fellowship, 116 Hermit Lane, Silver Cliff. For information regarding the schedule of activities or meetings, contact Deb Rimmer at 783,2199, [email protected].
